Biography
Korean born Australian pianist Grace Kim has performed with major symphony orchestras of Australia, Belgium, Turkey, Russia and Ukraine, and won numerous prizes in various national and international competitions, including third prize in Bellini International Piano Competition.
In 2004, Grace received the prestigious Winston Churchill Fellowship, The Australian Elizabethan Theatre Trust, The Ian Potter Cultural Trust and the Huygens Scholarship to further her studies in the Netherlands.
Since then she has been active in concertising throughout Europe, performing in various important concert halls such as De Doelen, Het Concertgebouw, and the Sydney Opera House.
In 2006, Grace performed before H.M. Queen Beatrix of The Netherlands and the Australian Governor General, in celebration of the 400 year anniversary of Dutch-Australian contact.
She has performed in every major city in Australia and many of her performances have been broadcasted on radio and television in Australia, Netherlands and China.
For 2 years Grace presented her own concert series at the world renowned Rijksmuseum, Amsterdam.
Passionate about chamber music, Grace regularly works with distinguished artists. She is the founding member of the
Odyssey Piano Trio.
She also enjoys collaboration with contemporary artists, one of the projects involved combining an original movie with live performance of Schumann's
Carnaval.
Currently based in The Netherlands, Grace holds a private teaching studio and regularly returns to Australia for various projects. She is the annual Pianist in Residence in Shepparton, VIC conducting masterclasses and workshops for teachers and students.
A graduate from the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, Grace received the Master of Music Degree at the Melbourne University under the guidance of Associate Professor Stephen McIntyre. She has also completed the Postgraduate Course (Cum Laude) in Rotterdam Conservatorium with Aquiles Delle Vigne.
In 2002 Grace was awarded the Inaugural Performance Fellowship at the Australian National Academy of Music.
